GUIDE works alongside the Medicare coverage your loved one already has. It doesn't replace their doctors, their specialists, their plan, or any benefit they're already receiving.
Your doctors stay your doctors
GUIDE doesn't change who your loved one sees. Their primary care physician, their neurologist, any specialist they're already working with, all of it stays the same.
Your tendercare Guide coordinates with those providers rather than standing between you and them.
Your existing benefits stay in place
Hospital coverage, outpatient care, prescription drug coverage, anything your loved one is already receiving through Medicare continues unchanged.
The respite funding available through GUIDE is in addition to regular Medicare benefits, not carved out of them.
What GUIDE adds
Care navigation from a dedicated tendercare Guide, caregiver education and support, a 24/7 support line, and help coordinating respite care.
These are services Medicare didn't previously cover for most families living with dementia. See What the GUIDE Program provides.
Does enrolling affect anything else?
It shouldn't. Enrolling doesn't change your loved one's Medicare plan, their premiums, or their eligibility for other programs.
If your family is receiving benefits through Medicaid, the VA, or another program and you want to be sure, ask your tendercare Guide and we'll look into the specifics with you.
