Controlling your tenderID privacy settings

How to control what's visible when your tenderID is scanned, and what to include or leave out.

You control exactly what information appears when your loved one's tenderID is scanned. Here's how to manage those settings.

Where to find tenderID privacy settings

  1. Open the relevant vault in the tendercare app or on the web.

  2. Go to the tenderID section.

  3. Look for Privacy or Visibility settings.

What you can control

tenderID only shows the specific information you've chosen to include. You decide what's visible when the QR code is scanned, including:

  • Medications

  • Allergies

  • Medical conditions

  • Emergency contacts

  • Documents (like a DNR or advance directive)

What we recommend including

For the tenderID to be useful in an emergency, we recommend keeping medications, allergies, conditions, and emergency contacts visible. That's what first responders need most.

What we recommend leaving out

Don't include information that isn't medically necessary for first responders:

  • Social Security numbers

  • Financial account information

  • Insurance policy details beyond the basics

  • Anything else that isn't relevant to emergency care

Built-in protections

Beyond your visibility choices, tenderID has several security layers:

  • The page that opens when a QR code is scanned expires after 24 hours. Each new scan generates a fresh, time-limited link.

  • Every scan triggers an automatic text alert to your emergency contacts.

  • If a card or decal is ever lost, you can deactivate it instantly from the app or web. Once deactivated, scanning it shows nothing.
