The tenderID is a free emergency-readiness tool that gives first responders instant access to your loved one's most critical medical information. No phone, app, or internet connection required on their end.
tenderID was designed in collaboration with EMTs and other emergency professionals to surface exactly what first responders need in an emergency.
What does the tenderID include?
Each tenderID kit includes two items:
A fridge decal. A QR code sticker that goes on the refrigerator. EMTs, firefighters, and paramedics are trained to check the refrigerator during a home emergency response.
A wallet card. A QR code card your loved one can carry. This ensures emergency information is accessible wherever they go.
Want more than one decal or wallet card? You can add additional cards or decals to a single tendercare profile. Each new card or decal has its own unique QR code linked to the same profile.
What does the QR code show?
When a first responder scans the QR code, they instantly see the subset of vault information you've chosen to share, typically:
Current medications
Allergies
Medical conditions
Emergency contacts
Important documents (like a DNR or advance directive)
Any other information you've decided to include
You're in full control of what appears on a scan. tenderID doesn't automatically organize or surface anything you haven't explicitly added.
The page loads instantly in any smartphone browser. No app needed on the responder's end.
What happens when the QR code is scanned?
Two things happen at once:
The first responder sees your loved one's selected medical details.
Your designated emergency contacts receive an automatic text message alert letting them know the tenderID was scanned and where.
This means you'll know immediately if something is happening, even if you're not on the scene.
For security, the page that opens when a QR code is scanned expires after 24 hours. Each new scan generates a fresh, time-limited link.
How much does it cost?
The tenderID is completely free. It's included with every tendercare account.
Why is the fridge the right place?
EMTs and paramedics are trained to check the refrigerator area when responding to a home emergency. It's one of the first places they look for medical information. The tenderID fridge decal is designed to work with this existing protocol.
Is it secure?
Yes. You control exactly what information appears when the QR code is scanned. All data lives in tendercare's encrypted, HIPAA-attested system. See Controlling your tenderID privacy settings for details.
